These Terms govern your use of Joey ("the app"). By creating an account or using Joey, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What Joey is
Joey is an AI-powered dream interpretation companion. You record or type dreams, and Joey generates an interpretation, optional voice playback, optional generated imagery, and a personalized symbol Codex that grows over time. Joey is intended for personal reflection and is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or therapeutic care.
Account and eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Joey. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account.
- One account per person. You may not share your account with others.
Subscription, billing, and trials
- Free dream. Your first interpretation is free, with full access to image generation, voice playback, and dialogue.
- Joey Premium subscription. Unlocks daily dream interpretation, voice playback, dialogue, image generation, and Codex access. Available as a monthly subscription ($12.99/month) or annual subscription ($129.99/year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers).
- Payment. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and managed through your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Apple processes all payments — Joey does not see or store credit card details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime through your iPhone's Settings.
- Free trial. If you start a 7-day free trial, you'll be charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial via Apple Subscriptions and retain access until the trial ends.
- Refunds. All refund requests are handled by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's refund policy applies.
- Price changes. We may update subscription prices in the future. Existing subscribers will be notified in advance and asked to consent to any price increase.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Joey to harm yourself or others, or in connection with any illegal activity.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract Joey's source code, prompts, or model behaviors.
- Use automated systems (scripts, bots) to interact with Joey or generate dreams in bulk.
- Submit content you don't have the right to submit, including content that infringes others' rights.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercialize Joey's interpretations or generated content as a paid product.
Your content
You retain ownership of the dreams you record and any content you write into Joey. By using Joey, you grant us a limited license to process your content as needed to deliver the service (interpret, generate images, synthesize voice, store in your Codex). We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not sell your content.
AI-generated content
Joey's interpretations, dialogue, and images are generated by AI systems (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, ElevenLabs). AI-generated content can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading. Joey's interpretations are offered for reflection, not as authoritative guidance, medical advice, mental health diagnosis, or spiritual counsel. Do not rely on Joey's outputs for decisions involving your physical or mental health, finances, legal matters, or relationships without consulting qualified professionals.
Mental health
Joey is not a crisis service. If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or a mental health emergency, please contact a qualified professional immediately. In the United States, you can call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). Outside the United States, please contact your local emergency services.
Service availability
We aim to keep Joey available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may pause, modify, or discontinue features without notice. We're not liable for service interruptions, data loss caused by outages, or third-party service failures (e.g., if OpenAI's API is down).
Termination
You can stop using Joey at any time and delete your account from Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete account. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are inactive for extended periods, or are suspected of fraudulent activity.
Disclaimer of warranties
JOEY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, ACCURATE, OR UNINTERRUPTED. ALL INTERPRETATIONS ARE FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION AND ARE NOT MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JOEY AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF JOEY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO JOEY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. The "Effective date" at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of Joey after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida.
